Welcome to Welfare@Longfield. The welfare hand of our school allows the academic hand to flourish by supporting the personal development of each pupil through a range of pastoral, therapeutic and safeguarding activities.

In this section of our page you will find information on our welfare team and the range of interventions and programmes that we offer here at Longfield Academy.

Welcome Message from Miss Howlett

Hello, I am Miss Howlett, the Emotional Wellbeing Officer for Longfield Academy. I support pupils with their mental health and overall wellbeing and work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in groups, I can also offer a safe space in school during difficult times. I offer therapeutic work around lots of topics such as risk-taking behaviours, self-concept, internet safety, sleep routines and more.

As a parent / carer, if you have any concerns around mental health and wellbeing, please take a look at the mental health blog on the Longfield Website.

In school we have three counsellors, 1 Psychological Wellbeing Officer, 2 Listening Post Staff and access to the School Nursing Service. I refer pupils into external agencies for support such as CAMHS, Harbour, SWITCH, St Theresa’s, Halo and Stonewall. We are also very excited about a new project with the Mental Health Support Team supporting the mental health and wellbeing of pupils around transition.

If you have any questions about emotional and well-being support in school, please contact me via email: chowlett@longfield.nalp.org.uk

The below activity has been designed by the Darlington Educational Psychology Service to support pupils during the move from Primary to Secondary school. In times when things feel a bit uncertain, it can be helpful to remind ourselves of challenges we have successfully faced before. If you would like to share your completed documents with us, please send to: enquiries@longfield.nalp.org.uk
